With the stunning revelation surrounding Bliss’s true identity comes the growing threat of the sinister Silver Bloods. Once left to live the glamorous life in New York City, the Blue Bloods now find themselves in an epic battle for survival. Not to worry; love is still in the air for the young vampires of the Upper East Side. Or is it? Schuyler has made her choice. She has forsaken Jack for Oliver, choosing human over vampire. But old loves die hard…. And even coldhearted Mimi seems to suffer from the ties that bind.

Summary from Goodreads

One year after the events of Rio, Schulyer has been on the run with Oliver for nearly as long, hiding from the Conclave that wrongly blamed her of everything that happened at the foot of Christ the Redeemer. Mimi is flying around the world looking for the Watcher with her new venator team. Meanwhile in New York where a lot of families face bankruptcy, Bliss is not herself anymore. What she calls the “Visitor” is living inside her, controlling her every move.

I enjoyed the fourth instalment in the Blue Bloods series. From the three point of view, I found myself liking Mimi’s much more than the other two. This book made me see a new side of her and she’s one of my favourite characters now. We see that she’s not only a mean girl, but someone with passion and compassion. I loved how the relationship with her venator team leader developed. It was really slow, innocent and cute. I was really sad for her at the end!

This book definitely brings the series in a more serious direction. What happens in the church was heartbreaking. I was not really happy with the end, but maybe it will make me like Jack again. I surprisingly preferred the Jack/Schulyer scenes from the Oliver/Schulyer scenes. We’ll see in the next book, Misguided Angel.

First Line

There had been little time to mourn.”
