Review Policy

Hi! I’m Émilie, twenty years old and I live in Canada. Thank you for taking the time to read my review policy. I would be more than happy to accept requests from publishers and authors to promote and feature books already out or not. I would also be interested to host giveaways, blog tours and authors interviews. If you want to contact me, you can at thesmellofbooks@gmail.com

What I like to read

I accept physical copies (Hardcover and Paperback, ARCs, Galleys) and eBooks (PDF or for Kindle). I read mostly Young Adult and some Middle Grade titles. I enjoy dystopia, fantasy, historical, science fiction, paranormal, contemporary, romance… pretty much everything that falls under the YA category.

What I don’t read

I don’t read non-fiction, biographies, memoirs, Adult books, New Adult books, poetry. I won’t accept self published books either.

Reviews

Review books are always a priority. I will try to post the review one month before the release (or before/after if you tell me to), books that have already been release may take longer for me to post the review as I am also a student and I have a job. If your book needs the review posted by a certain date, please tell me and we can try to work things out.

My reviews mostly consist of what I thought and how I felt while reading the novel. Reviews can be negative or positive as it is my honest opinion, but if I didn’t like a book, I will always explain why and it will be in a respectful manner. I will post my reviews on my blog and on Goodreads. If there is anywhere else you would like me to post the review, please tell me and I will try to do it.

My reviews contain:

  • the book cover
  • the title
  • the release date
  • the series status
  • the publisher with a link to the website
  • where I got the novel
  • the format
  • the number of pages
  • links to Goodreads, Amazon and the Book Depository
  • a summary
  • a score from 1 to 5 for the writing, the world-building, the plot, the characters and the romance
  • the first line
  • infos about the author
  • the book trailer if there is one
  • the rating
  • and maybe some quotes

The summaries and the book covers used on this blog are taken from either Goodreads, the publisher, the author’s website or the book itself.
